The Casalino is back! Popular in the seventies, forgotten in the eighties. We wanted to introduce Casalino again, so Casala (the original manufacturer) started a hunt for the original moulds. They found them at a depot in Antalya and bought them back. This means Casalino is not a remake, it’s an original. And still as beautiful as it ever was. Casalino shows up well everywhere, at home and in the garden, at the office and on the patio.

The designer, Alexander Begge, born in 1941, designed only one furniture line: Casalino. “I never made one drawing for this line”, he remembers. “I had an image of a wisp of fog and elaborated on that. It gave so much joy, I was in a whirl. The Casala factory had a siren which sounded several times a day. When the siren sounded at the end of a working day, I thought it was time for a coffee break. I had forgotten everything around me”.

Despite this joy Alexander Begge has never designed furniture again. He trained as a potter and founded a firm in the furnace construction industry. Nowadays Alexander Begge lives in the neighbourhood of Koblenz, Germany.

The Casalino tables were designed by Jonas Kressel and Ivo Schelle in 2007.
